Good News Stops Me Spreading Good News!
I can’t believe it is over a month since my last post, but I am happy to say that the key factor in my lack of presence has been the continuing growth in my own business – and the fact that I have more work on my plate than at any time. It is a lovely problem to have to be working out how to manage workflow and time! And I am not alone, I continuously meet owners of small businesses who are finding work is picking up, which I hope means we are emerging from the recession at ground level, whatever national statistics tell us.
Two unrelated items to share with you today – firstly the heartwarming storyof Angie Baker and her partner Lee Jones, who tried for 13 years to start a family, and suffered 18 miscarriages. Now, after some ground-breaking hospital treatment, they have a lovely 10-week old baby girl, Raiya. I’m not mad on kids, but I think this is a lovely story, and wish the family well. We are very lucky to live in a world where this sort of medical care is available.
On a wider economic note, the FTSE climbed back above 5300 yesterday, still enormously up on the low of March 2009. Whilst we receive a barrage of bad news as the political parties out-compete each other to talk us into more economic downturns, it is pleasing to read that manufacturer confidence has improved, car production is up and the stock market has recovered from it’s mini dip.
Finally, I need your help. With the pleasant problem of plenty of work, I am having to review how I spend my time, and this blog is one of the things under review. I want to carry it on, but only if people are reading and enjoying it, so I need to hear from you! Please leave a comment here, or email us at stories@goodnewsblog.org.uk so that we know it is worth persevering with!

James – Keep it I say, there isn’t enough positivity out there and this is good, original stuff.
I think there is scope to share the good news further – I don’t get alerted to a new post unless I go looking – could it feature in the LinkedIn newsfeed? Facebook too? I struggled to add the blog to my Google reader with AddInto, so a conventional RSS may also make it more accessable. Also, Tweeting these posts is bound to generate some ‘re-tweets’ to spread the good, good news message far and wide, which would result in more followers, better search results for you and possibly (+dangerously!), more business! All with just a couple of technical tweaks.
Only a suggestion ;o)
Best,
Hugh
