Something Else for The Bedroom

Posted on May 29th, 2009, by james

After featuring the success of SSL and their adult products recently, I now return to the bedroom, but on a topic far more familiar to me – wanting a good night’s sleep! A business local to me here in South Oxfordshire is launching a product that has been shown in tests to help people sleep.  [...]

Good News on the Railways

Posted on May 26th, 2009, by james

Network Rail today announced that 9 out of 10 trains are punctual.  Leaving aside the fact that “on time” allows a train to be up to 10 minutes late, this is great news for the rail network – We are now transporting record numbers by rail, and they are increasingly arriving on time. Good News in the Bedroom

Posted on May 22nd, 2009, by james

I shall do my best to avoid innuendo here, but this week SSL International reported significantly improved  sales and profits, largely driven by growth in its Durex Play range – including lubricants and adult toys.  It seems that UK consumers’ increasing interest in more adventure in the bedroom has meant SSL have bucked the recession. Investors in Sainsbury’s and Compass will be happy this week after strong results were reported, and the UK taxpayer will be relieved that at least one state-owned institution is turning a profit. Sainsbury’s saw sales growth of 6pc in the last 12 months, and improved margins to deliver 11pc growth in underlying profits.  Analysts on [...]

Premier Foods yesterday announced a “solid start” to 2009, and a major success with their Go on Lad campaign for Hovis – which has seen their market share grow from 22pc to 26pc in 12 months.  This now means they bake 480 million loaves a year.  I buy 40 or 50 of them, I play my [...]

Daft stories – are they good news?

Posted on May 11th, 2009, by james

Two items caught my attention at the weekend, and even if they aren’t technically Good News, they are certainly Good Fun on a Monday morning! The first features a YouTube sensation, which may be a hoax but is still funny.  We have probably all at some time called a customer service centre, quivering with rage [...]

A three week holiday meant a break in transmission – but I am delighted to be back online and able to continue sharing the positive news from around the world.  My trip involved some charity work in South Africa, and hopefully in the next few days I can share some of the good news from [...]
